Sun Motel owner Rakesh Pai spoke at Tuesday’s York County Board meeting to set the record straight after Commissioner Andy Bowman described his property and others nearby as neglected. “It’s 70% occupied,” Pai said. “People would not be living in the place” if it was inhabitable. He criticized the commissioners for not including him in conversations regarding the condition of the motel. “I think a better first step would have been to reach out to the owner and discuss what’s going on, if there’s anything wrong,” Pai said.
