DETROIT - Its opening has been years in the making and it is going to take a little longer for people to start crossing the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Construction on the bridge from Detroit to Windsor, Ontario began back in 2018. Officials with the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority originally said they expected traffic to start using the bridge in late 2024. Then it was late 2025.
